Chinchiná, Colombia
In Chinchiná, we partner with Palestina Animal Shelter and Lina’s Dog Haven. Volunteers take part in public awareness campaigns, where they visit homes, survey animal populations, and promote free animal clinics sponsored by ISL. Volunteers bring adoptable dogs into partner non-profits, providing pet therapy for senior citizens and other populations who might benefit from animals. Volunteers also visit the Universidad de Caldas Veterinary Hospital, where they attend a class, network with students, and shadow veterinarians involved in small and large animal care.
Alajuela, Costa Rica
In Alajuela, we partner with Rescate Animal Zooave, where volunteers assist with various tasks in the Endangered Wildlife Reproduction Center, the quarantine facility, and the Conservation Park. Volunteers prepare animal diets, do feedings, clean and maintain enclosures, create environmental enrichment toys, participate in behavioral observations, and help with gardening and landscaping. Volunteers also visit the National University Veterinary School Hospital for Minor Species.
Puerto Peñasco, Mexico
In Puerto Peñasco, we partner with Pets Without Borders, where ISL sponsors necessary vaccinations, spay/neuter operations, and wound care. Volunteers visit homes and assess living conditions and pet health in ISL partner communities and work with Barb’s Dog Rescue Unit, where they care for rescue animals.
