International Volunteer Opportunities in Physical Therapy
Treatment needs: Orthopedic, neurological, amputee patients, children with cerebral palsy and other musculoskeletal disorders, acute and chronic pain, and some wound care
Instructional needs (DPT): Educate about Principles of Exercise, gait training techniques, and pain management.
Treatment needs: Work-related injuries and injuries caused from stroke as well as services for patients in rural communities who have no access to physical therapy.
Instructional needs: Train community health workers, sports coaches, and physical education teachers to provide basic physical therapy, assessment and therapy for common injuries and medical conditions, and basic PT for sports-related injuries.
Treatment needs: Orthopedic and neurological conditions in elder care settings.
Instructional needs (DPT): Prevention of sports-related injuries, current diagnosis/assessment techniques, manual therapy approaches, orthopedic manual therapy, treatments for neurological patients, bandaging and wound care techniques, exercise prescription, passive to active treatment techniques.
